First Annual BHI Conference on Black Holes

Monday, May 8 and Tuesday, May 9, 2017
Sheraton Commander Hotel, 16 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA

Location: The conference will be held at the Sheraton Commander Hotel, located near Harvard Square at 16 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA. This hotel is central to much of the University, is next door to the BHI offices, and is surrounded by many restaurants and shops.

Accommodations: We have reserved a small block of rooms at the Sheraton Commander Hotel. The discounted rate is $319 per night for a single room. This rate is applicable for the nights of Sunday, May 7 through Tuesday, May 9, 2017 (checkout on Wednesday, May 10, 2017). In order to take advantage of the discounted rate, you must make your reservation no later than 5:00pm EST on April 21, 2017, by calling 1-888-627-7121, or booking through the Sheraton Commander Hotel, identifying Harvard's Black Hole Initiative Conference 2017 group block. Information on additional lodging choices can be found at Hotels.

Internet: Wireless access will be available for free in the conference room.

Banquet: The conference banquet will be held on the evening of Monday, May 8 in the Sheraton Commander's Mount Vernon Ballroom, beginning with a reception at 6:30pm. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Clifford Will, Distinguished Professor of Physics from the University of Florida, Gainesville.

City Transportation and Parking: Directions to the conference. Additional public transportation options can be found at the MBTA website.

Unfortunately, parking is unavailable for conference participants, and only limited parking is available for a fee at the Sheraton Commander Hotel. There are several parking garages located in Harvard Square. Most on-street parking in the area is prohibited without a resident permit, and metered parking is extremely difficult to find. If you drive to the conference, be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to find parking.

Conference Contact: Please address your questions to Bill Nehring at wnehring [at] fas.harvard.edu.
